Yolanda Lee was the 1st Runner-up in the 25th National Artistic Skating Championship, Youth - Ladies Section, Figure Skating as well as All-round category, which was held from 2nd to 6th August, 2010 in Guangzhou. She also received the 2nd Runner-up in the 14th Asian Roller Skating Championships which was held from 16th to 26th July, 2010 in Taiwan. Congratulations!

Turia Lee (5L), Karen Chan (5L), Eden Boulanger (7P) and June Lei (7A) participated in 12th Lisa Magazine Hong Kong Secondary Student Cooking Competition (味道第十二屆全港中學生烹飪比賽).Turia and Karen won the Championship and Outstanding Performance Award (傑出表現獎), while Eden and June got "Fissler" The Best Cooks Award ("Fissler" 最佳廚藝大獎).Our cheering teams' performances were also highly appreciated by the guests. |
|
HKedCity Writing Competition 2010 was held to celebrate their 10th anniversary, and the theme was "A Decade of Hong Kong - Past and Beyond". On Saturday, 17 July, 2010, at a Prize-giving ceremony in the Wanchai Convention and Exhibition Centre, JC Ho, 7U, came first in the Senior “Open” Section with her essay, “The Classroom”. Her prize was a trophy and HK$3,000 book coupon! JC, well done!

The 2nd English Radio Drama Competition
|
Recently, the 2nd English Radio Drama Competition for Hong Kong and MacauSchools was held, jointly organized by Smart Education and Theatre Noir.Over 300 teams and 90+ school submitted their drama scripts in this year’s competition.On Sunday 4 July, the Final and Prize Giving Ceremony was held at the Drama Theatre in the HK Academy for Performing Arts. The team of Renee Yeh 4A, Lillian Ha 4S, Tammy Ha 4P, Carina Wong 4A, and Annie Xia 4A were very successful in their attempts to entertain the audience and judges with their drama called No Regrets.In the Senior Section, Renee Yeh was awarded Best Actor Award, and the whole team was awarded Best Script and Senior Champions.An admirable feat for this team!

Judging cum Award Presentation Ceremony of Hong Kong Student
Science Project Competition 2010 was held on 5 June. Zoe Chu,
Karen Lau, Cherry Liu, Cherie Wong and Stephanie Yeung of
F.6P won the 2nd Runner-up with their project ‘Iron “Sucks”!’
in the type of ‘Investigation of Scientific Phenomena or
Application of Scientific Theories’ (Senior Division). They
received a trophy, certificates and a sponsorship to the World
Expo Shanghai 2010 in late July. Congratulations!

Scholars of the Year Award 2009 – 2010 |
An all-rounded
student of good character, Cherie Wong of 6P has been selected
as the 2009-2010 “Grantham Scholars of the Year” by the
Grantham Scholarships Fund Committee. Not only is Cherie extremely
good in her academic work but she is also very active in extra-curricular
activities and community services. Though not on the award
list, Karen Lau of 6P, one of the finalists of the Award scheme,
was presented with the Certificate of Merit in recognition
of her excellent performance. Congratulations!

The Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award 2009/10
|
The Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award 2009/10, sponsored by the Gifted Education Section of EDB, is a writing competition held every year for both local and international youths.After the second phase of the competition, five of our students were selected based on their poems and an interview with the judges.In the Final Award-Winners’ Ceremony on 29 May, 2010 at the EDB Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre, Elsie Lau, 7U, Cherry Kwok 3L, Phoebe Ng, 3L and Eugenia Wong, 3L all received a Commendation Award for their efforts, while Divya Verma of 3L was awarded Merit for her poem, It Was Murder, about her inevitable attack on the computer that had ruined her sister’s life.A big congratulations to all the winners!

Prize Presentation Ceremony of the Olympic Sport and Literature
Competition
|
|
On
Wednesday, 5 May, 2010,The Prize Presentation Ceremony of
the Olympic Sport and Literature Competition was successfully
concluded at the Jockey Club Lecture Theatre in Olympic House.
This writing competition is organized every four years by
the China Hong Kong Sports Association Olympic Committee.
This year, Christie Chow, 3T, and Vanessa Leigh, 2A, received
a Merit award and $800 each for their stories. Loretta Fan,
5S, won 2nd Runner-up and a cash prize of $1500 and Renee
Yeh, 4A, won the Champion and $3000 cash for her creative
story entitled A
Friend Who Believed. All the winners also received
an IOC trophy, and an IOC diploma and souvenir. Well done
to all the winners!

Chartered Hong Kong English Public Speaking Contest 2010
|
On Saturday,
10 April, the Grand Final cum Award Ceremony of the Standard
Chartered Hong Kong English Public Speaking Contest 2010 was
held. This year, 152 schools participated, with a total of
1192 in the Senior Section. Prior to the ceremony, Liz Yuen
(6A) won the Online Revival Round and Online Polling, Senior
Section. We are delighted to announce that at the Award Ceremony,
Liz received 1st Runner-up for her 3-minute
speech and 2-minute question-and-answer session.
The topic for all the Senior speeches was “Do celebrities
have a right to privacy?” Well done, Liz!

Lau of Form 6P, who attained 7As in 2009 Hong Kong Certificate
of Education Examination, has been awarded the Government
Scholarship for her outstanding performance in the examination.
Karen is among the top 40 students in local schools with the
highest scores in the examination. She will be awarded $9870
each year for her two years of study in Form 6 and 7 at St.
Paul’s Convent School. Congratulations!

year our school sent a total of 176 English entries, which included
37 group entries of choral speaking, public speaking teams,
and dramatic duologue teams. Our school also sent 72 Chinese
entries. We are happy to say that our school was awarded a total
of 26 Champion Places,16 1st Runners-up, and 28 2nd Runners-up.

Kwan and Irene Kwok of F.7A participated in the 2009 Australian
National Chemistry Quiz. Both of them attained a High Distinction
Award in the quiz and were ranked top 1% in Hong Kong and top
800 students among 120,000 entries from 1450 schools from 15
countries. They were presented plaques and certificates. Congratulations! |

Individual Fencing Tournament 2009-2010
|
The
Inter-School Fencing Tournament 2009/10 organized by the Hong
Kong Schools Sports Federation was held on 14th & 22nd November,
2009 at Po Kong Village Sports Centre. Ruby Kwan of F.4T won
the Champion of Girls Grade B and
Joyce Yeung of F.2T was awarded the 2nd Runner-up of Girls Grade
C in the Sabre Section (佩劍). Debbie
Ho of F.1L won the Champion and
Grace Yu of F.2P was awarded the 2nd Runner-up in Girls Grade
C Epee Section (重劍). Kelly Ho
of F.2T is the 1st Runner-up of Girls Grade C Foil Section (花劍).

5th Korea Open International Karatedo Championship

Samantha
Lau of F.2T received the 2nd Runner-up award in Hong Kong Karatedo
Youth Game 2009, Girl Junior Kata Age 12-13 organized by the
Karatedo Federation of Hong Kong, China Limited held on 6th
& 13th September 2009. Also, Samantha was selected as Athlete
of Hong Kong Karatedo Delegation Team and has participated in
the 2009年全國大眾空手道錦標賽 held in Xi an, Shan xi, China
and the 5th Korea Open International Karatedo Championships
held in Busan, Korea last summer. She had won the Champion of
2009年全國大眾空手道錦標賽 -女子甲組個人型 and also the Champion
of Female Individual Kata and the 2nd Runner-up in Female Individual
Kumite in the 5th Korea Open International Karatedo Championship.
