Peking University Talk 4th May 2012

A talk about the Peking University was successfully held in G7 on 4th May 2012. We were very glad to have representatives from the Peking University Registrar and Admission Office to introduce this renowned university to us. Students from Clementi Secondary School and Kiangsu-Chekiang College were also invited to the talk. Important details such as the qualification of university lecturers and the exchange programmes offered were explained. During the Q&A session, participants raised some of their queries and concerns on the universityˇ¦s admission requirements as well as the studying environment. It was an insightful experience!

 

University of St. Joseph Macau Talk on 20th April 2012
On 20th April 2012, Professor Kong FanQing, Vice-rector of Government Relations, Mr Ricardo Rato, Secretary of General and Registra and Ms Amy Lee, Admission Officer from the St. Joseph University (Macau) came to give us an admission talk to their university. Mr Rato gave us a thorough introduction to the application process, the admission requirement and the choice of subjects while Ms Lee shared with us student life in SJU. The talk gave students new insights into taking diversified pathways to pursue their goals in the future.
 

Mills College on 28th March 2012
Ms. Giulietta Aquino, Dean of Undergraduate Admission of Mills College visited our school on the 28th March 2012 and met with some of our Form 5 students. Located in Oakland, California, Mills College is a nationally renowned liberal arts women's college. Information on admissions to the college was given by Ms. Giulietta while our students raised some of their queries and concerns based on their interested field of studies. It was a very interactive and enjoyable meeting.
 

CV Talk by Ms. Sylvia Keung

On 19th and 20th March 2012, our school alumni, Ms Sylvia Keung, conducted a CV workshop for students who are applying for university next year. Ms Keung, who is a lawyer, shared with us the requirement and techniques that are useful in writing a professional CV. She also gave our students some sample CV to practice during the workshop and guided them on how to sharpen their skills. It was truly inspirational.

 

UCAS Introduction Talk on 23rd February 2012
Mr Keith Carter, a representative from the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), gave our Form 5 students an introductory session on applying to UK universities for the 2013 intake. After the talk, our students learnt much more about the quality of tertiary education in UK. It was essential to the students as Mr Carter guided Paulinians through the university application process with important information such as the important dates for application and the highlights for preparing a CV and personal statements. Teachers and students also showed great involvement in the Q&A session.
 

Personal Statement Workshop by Mr. Nick Strong on 22nd February 2012
- How to write a successful Personal Statement
In order to prepare our studentsˇ¦ for their university application, the Careers Team organized a personal statement workshop on 22nd February 2012. We were very glad to have Mr. Nick Strong, an admission tutor from the University of Aberystwyth (UK) to come and shared with our students the requirement of an outstanding personal statement. Throughout the presentation, Mr. Strong went through the style and format of writing up the statement and analyzed a piece of student work with the group. The talk received very positive response as students found it very helpful.
 

HKU Nursing Talk on 19th January 2012

We were very pleased to have Dr. Agnes Tiwari, Head of the School of Nursing (HKU) and Ms. Margaret Lee, an outstanding nursing graduate, to give our students an admission talk on 19th January 2012. What made the talk special was that both speakers were alumni of our school. Professor Tiwari emphasized the importance of scientific research and medical advancement in the field of nursing and shared with us her personal observation of how advancement in medical technology has helped to improve the outlook of patients and strengthened their hope of recovery. Furthermore, the guest speakers provided valuable information on the nursing profession, such as its responsibilities and the possible prospects of graduates. All the students found the talk very insightful.

 

HKUST Global China Studies on 15th December 2011
The admission talk on Global China Studies, a new undergraduate program launched at the HKUST, was held in the Classroom of the Future on 15th December 2011. The speakers gave participants an insight into the new programme, and how it would benefit students with knowledge on different issues in China as she became an increasingly influential country in the world. Information on the courses offered under the Interdisciplinary Programs Office was also given. By the end of the talk, Paulinians showed their interest towards the programs mentioned by involving actively in the Q&A session.
 

Careers Week - Student Voice on 8th November 2011

We were very pleased that Ms. Stephanie Mok, our alumni who is now a director of a consultancy firm, came to our student forum and shared with us her experiences on studying in UK on 8th November 2011. Ms. Mok also shared her views as an employer and reminded our students the importance of having a clear vision and an all-rounded personality. She also shared with us her way of dealing with examinations and reminded us the importance of finding good ways to relax. It was a wonderful event as students learnt through active participation and interaction with our guest speaker.

 

Wedding Planner Industry Careers Talk on 1st November 2011

We were very happy to have representatives from Bridal Academy Stage, Ms Eliza Cheung and her team, to give an introductory session of the wedding planner industry on 1 November 2011. Ms Cheung and her team gave a demonstration of bridal make-up. The talk was enjoyable and informative as our students learnt about the requirement, work and importance of this industry.

 

City University Talk on 6th October 2011

The admission talk of City University of Hong Kong was successfully held on 6th October 2011. We were delighted to have the representative from the Admissions Office and the Law Faculty, Ms Sara Tsui, to give us an informative session about the admission requirement and its programmes. Paulinians showed great interest in the talk and truly benefited from this inspirational experience.

 

UK Universities Roadshow

We were very pleased to be the host school for the 2011 UK Universities Roadshow on the 30th September 2011. It was a real privilege to have 21 UK universities along with the British Council represented at our school. Through this event, our students were able to learn about further studies in the UK, the application process to UK universities through the UCAS system and how to write a winning personal statement. Students and parents were also able to learn more about the university courses and their admission requirement from the face-to-face consultation sessions held at our Covered Playground. This meaningful event definitely provided our students with diversified pathways for their future success!
