Careers Talk ¡V Marketing Industry

On 31st October, around 30 Form 5 and Form 6 students attended an inspirational talk by Ms Carman Cheung, an alumnus of our school, on the Marketing industry. Ms Cheung, who started studying BBA (Law) at HKU but decided not to finish her Law degree after the third year in order to pursue a career in Marketing, now works as an Assistant Brand Manager in Hong Kong Taiwan Olay. She told us how she overcame hardships and uncertainties when she was studying at HKU. She also told us that it was not until she finished 9 internships in Law that she discovered her passion for Marketing. She shared with us the details of a brand manager¡¦s job and the hectic pace of work she had to cope with when she first joined the industry. Emphasizing the importance of an all-rounded personality and a well-polished CV, Ms Cheung encouraged us to take part in more extra-curricular activities so that we could have a better understanding of what we wanted to study in the future. Through this sharing session, not only did we learn more about the Marketing industry, but we also realised that it is okay to be uncertain about what we want to do or be in the future. Her valuable experience and helpful suggestions were truly an inspiration for us all.
