Safety Rules and Precautions for Physical Education

  1. Students are encouraged to report any medical history which might affect their participation in PE lessons or other extra-curricular activities to the school.
  2. Students taking part in physical activities should be in proper PE uniform.
  3. School tracksuit can be used during cold weather.
  4. No over-size pullover or cardigan is allowed during activities.
  5. School swimming suit and house cap should be worn during swimming lessons. (refer to water safety precautions at school swimming pool)
  6. Gym. shoes should be worn during dancing and gymnastics lessons.
  7. Students with long hair should tie up their hair.
  8. Students should make sure their fingernails are trimmed.
  9. Students who have to wear spectacles during physical activities should ensure that their glasses are made of non-breakable materials.
  10. Students should not wear a watch and jewelry during activities.
  11. Students should thoroughly 'warm up' before engaging in strenuous activities, especially in cold weather.
  12. Students should always follow teacher's instructions during play.
  13. Students should foster a sense of responsibility and understand the importance of their own and others' safety during activities.
  14. Students are NOT allowed to remove any PE equipment except under teacher's supervision.
  15. All PE equipment used should be placed back in the original place.
  16. Students should maintain good hand hygiene and they should wash their hands thoroughly before and after PE lesson.
  17. Students should report any symptom of illness to PE teachers so that immediate action can be taken.
  18. Good discipline should be maintained in class to minimize the occurrence of any accidents.

Water Safety Precautions at School Swimming Pool

  1. Students are not allowed to enter the pool without teacher’s permission.
  2. Do not swim too soon after a meal, or when hungry, or tired.
  3. Do inform the teacher of any wounds or infectious diseases before the lessons.
  4. No glass bottle is allowed in the pool area.
  5. Do not wear jewelery and watches during activity.
  6. School swim suit and house cap must be worn for indication.
  7. PE T-shirt must be worn for keeping warm.
  8. Goggles must not be made of glass or breakable plastic.
  9. No eating is allowed in pool area.
  10. NO DIVING is allowed.
  11. Bring your own slippers.
  12. Do not run, jump or chase about in pool area.
  13. Do notify teacher immediately if you have any difficulties.
  14. Do report any accident to teacher immediately.
  15. Good discipline should be maintained in class to minimize the occurrence of any accidents.
  16. In case of difficulties in the water,
    -keep calm, do not panic, conserve energy and breath normally;
    -try to tread water or float on back;
    -shout for help
  17. NEVER pretend to be in difficulty.
  18. Students who are unable to swim must put on proper PE uniform as they will be assigned an appropriate task to do.

  19. Remarks:
    ĦE Students who have received two doses of vaccines for more than 14 days to are allowed to participate in the swimming lessons.

    ĦE Students should wear masks at all times within swimming pools except when they are swimming.

Safety Precautions for Online Physical Education Lessons

When conducting online PE lessons, teachers should remind students of the following safety precautions:

  1. Students should wear proper clothing and footwear during activities.
  2. Before activities, the floor should be smooth and dry; indoor area should be kept well ventilated.
  3. Adequate space and safe environment should be arranged; any glass windows, doors, tables, chairs, lights, fans and sharp edges, etc. which are in close vicinity to the activity area should be temporarily removed or installed with protective devices.
  4. All equipment must be checked before use.
  5. Students should do adequate warm-up exercises at the beginning of the activity.
  6. Learning should be started from activities at the lowest level of difficulty (i.e. simple, light and easy to do), such as stretching and basic fitness exercises. The intensity of exercise should be increased gradually.
  7. The intensity, duration and frequency of exercises should be arranged according to the personal health and fitness conditions.
  8. To drink water after the activity for replenishment. Personal hygiene should be observed.
  9. If feeling unwell during or after the activity, students should stop immediately and seek medical or professional assistance.
  10. Before activities, student should learn about the lesson arrangement, rundown and safety precautions with their parents or guardians for familiarising themselves with the respective requirements, so as to enable them to provide appropriate support and cooperation.
  11. During the whole lessons, the camera should be switched on so that teachers could be able to teach and interact with students, as well as provide them with instant instructions and feedback through the screen.
