This year’s Annual Speech Day was held on 22 November 2024. This joyous occasion was graced by distinguished attendees, including our Guest of Honour, Dr. Choi Yuk Lin, JP, Secretary for Education; Rev. Sr. Joanna Marie Cheung, Provincial Superior of the Sisters of St. Paul de Chartres of Hong Kong and Taiwan; Ms. Ivy Man Wai Yin, Chief School Development Officer (Wanchai & Island); and Ms. Gloria Leung Kee Yun, Senior School Development Officer of EDB.
In her welcoming address, Sister Margaret Wong, our Principal, encouraged the Graduates to embrace their individuality while cultivating the agility and versatility necessary to navigate a rapidly changing world. She emphasized the importance of becoming proactive change-makers who contribute meaningfully to society’s advancement, as highlighted by Mr. Ha Bo Lung. It is through this proactive approach that Paulinians can embark on a journey leading them to the eternal life that God has prepared for them. In addition, Sister Margaret extended her congratulations to the staff receiving Long Service Awards, commending their dedication to making SPCS an institution that is pleasing to both God and humankind.
After presenting certificates to the Graduates of 2024 and prizes to the award winners, Dr. Choi Yuk Lin complimented SPCS for its remarkable 170-year legacy of providing quality education for girls in Hong Kong. In her address, she noted that the Anniversary theme “Roots and Wings Now and Beyond” embodies the school’s core values in preparing Paulinians for future challenges in an ever-evolving world. She encouraged SPCS Graduates to remain connected to their roots as both Catholic and Chinese as they continue to make further contributions to society after they graduate.
The evening ended with a delightful round of performances by the Chinese Dance Team, the Cantonese Opera, the Chinese Orchestra and the Junior Choir. Graduates and their parents were in high spirit as they filed out of the Hall to take photos of the memorable occasion in the Garden and Playground.
