With the rapid advancement of technology, the things around us are gradually becoming electronic. Data can also change society, turning Hong Kong into a ‘smart city.’ The Open Data Hackathon Challenge was organized by the Hong Kong Technology Advancement Group (HKtag) and funded by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer. Over 120 teams participated in the event this year.

On January 25, the awards ceremony concluded successfully. Five senior teams, consisting of our F4 and F5 students, reached the final round of the competition. They delivered a 5-minute oral presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A session on their data-driven business solutions, and all teams achieved outstanding results. In total, five of our teams earned seven out of eighteen awards in the secondary division. One F.5 team won the overall championship across all divisions (primary, secondary, tertiary, and open division), receiving 2 years of free broadband service as the grand prize, valued at over HKD 44,000.
