On 7 February 2025, seven Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students from our school participated in a career visit to the High Court and the Legal Aid Department, organised by the Caritas Youth and Community Service.
The visit began with a High Court case hearing, where students observed legal proceedings and gained firsthand exposure to courtroom dynamics. It was fascinating to see how judges, lawyers, and court officials interacted during the case.
Following the case hearing, students attended a briefing conducted by Legal Aid Counsel Mr. Ray Chan on the services of the Legal Aid Department and the daily work of Legal Aid Counsel and Law Clerks. They had the opportunity to ask questions about legal aid policies, career paths in law, and the challenges faced by legal professionals.
The visit concluded with an exciting interaction with a humanoid robot, which demonstrated how technology is being integrated into legal services.
This career visit deepened our students’ understanding of the legal system and its accessibility. They greatly enjoyed and appreciated this insightful experience.
