The inauguration ceremony for the Von Neumann Institute at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, along with the launch of the “AI Explorers: Artificial Intelligence School Education Program,” took place on 9 May, 2025. The institute is named after John von Neumann, known as “the father of modern computers,” whose principles still influence today’s AI algorithms. Our school had the honor of being invited to this prestigious event, where two of our students, Valeria Li of F.3L and Ava Tse of F.3S engaged in a dialogue with Vonnex, an advanced AI robot capable of understanding language, images, and motion.
Additionally, on 25 April, a group of 14 students visited the Institute. During their visit, they had the opportunity to meet with AI researchers and developers, gaining valuable insights into the application of AI in various industries.
