After the preliminary rounds of thought-provoking debates between Form 4 and Form 5 classes, the Senior Inter-class English Debates Finals was successfully held on the 14th February, 2025. This annual event is organised by the English Debating Society and took place inside the school hall. The finalists from F.4P and F.4T debated on the motion ‘This house believes that governments should prioritize immigration policies over raising birthrates to better address the issue of an aging population’. This year, we were honoured to have Mr. Clement Chung, Ms. Chelsea Lau and Ms. Carmen Yam as our honourable adjudicators. The Proposition team consisted of Jasmine Lui, Jinny Lee and Annabel Ching from 4P, while the Opposition team consisted of Ines Baud, Chelsea Lau and Jacqueline Kie from 4T.

Both teams presented well-established arguments supported by meticulous research and confident rhetoric. During the free debate, the debaters presented impromptu arguments and quick thinking that proved challenging to the opposing team. After a tough and careful deliberation, the adjudicators decided that the winner of the 2024-2025 Senior Inter-class English Debates Finals is class 4T. The Best Debater award was given to Ines Baud also from 4T. Personalised and valuable insights were given to each of our students by our honourable adjudicators.

Congratulations to all the debaters who participated in the Senior Inter-class English Debate Competition and thank you for the fruitful and memorable debates and intermission performances this year!
