On 13 March 2025, our teachers and students participated in an education talk held by GX Foundation, a Chinese medical humanitarian aid charitable organization established in Hong Kong in 2018, on Belt and Road Medical Humanitarian Aid. We are honoured to have the Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the Chairman of the GX Foundation, Mr. Leung Chun-ying, along with Professor Chan Ying-yang, the CEO of the Foundation and our distinguished alumna, to encourage Paulinians to actively participate in international affairs.

Mr. Leung started by illustrating Hong Kong’s important role in China’s international exchanges and the significance of youth participation in the construction of public welfare. Mr. Leung, who recently returned from attending the “Two Sessions” in Beijing, also introduced the “Government Work Report,” which mentions the nation’s support for Hong Kong and Macau to “deepen international exchanges and cooperation.” He explained how the GX Foundation serves as a good example because it is an international humanitarian public health organization headquartered in Hong Kong, focused on helping countries along the “Belt and Road” initiative to improve public health and medical conditions.

Professor Chan Ying-yang began her speech by pointing out our school motto “Omnia Omnibus” and encouraged Paulinians to reflect on how the work of the GX Foundation can embody the motto and encouraged Paulinians to build the GX Foundation together. She went on to introduce the humanitarian work carried out by the Foundation in several countries and shared some touching stories. Ravneet, a senior project officer at the Foundation and our graduate, introduced her experience in humanitarian programmes in different parts of the world as well as how she made good use of her knowledge learnt in SPCS to deal with challenges and difficulties during the missions.

This event facilitated the understanding of humanitarian work along the Belt and Road initiatives and instilled a sense of responsibility among Paulinians. The talk equipped the Paulinians to have the aspirations to build a better tomorrow for Hong Kong, China, and the world.
