On 8th July 2025, 73 F.1-F.5 students joined the school programme of The Making of Dreams at the M+ Museum. Students were divided into 3 groups and each group had a tour at the M+ Collections: Nakagin and Kiyotomo: Architectural Icons from Tokyo, 1970s–1980s and Making It Matters guided by museum educators.

Students engaged in activities where they individually sketched their ideas and then shared them with the group. This process gave them the opportunity to reflect on their ideal personal space and consider how they would personalise their own living environment. They also explored how individuality and personality can be maintained within a communal living space – a building composed of many separate capsules.

After a warm-up activity, students were tasked with creating their own bats to use in a collaborative ‘ping pong match’ where the goal was for both teams to work together to achieve the highest combined number of hits, rather than competing against each other.

Lastly, students uploaded their designs to an online platform to share their design concepts. The design methodologies were then reviewed and summarized by M+ educators. Through this workshop and the overall programme, students developed their creativity and resourcefulness by making use of recycled materials to create functional objects. They also gained valuable experience in expressing their ideas, receiving professional feedback, and understanding the design process from concept to presentation.
