Priorities for Department Improvement
1) Implementing the School Theme
Teachers should trust and respect all members in school, including principal, teaching and non-teaching staff as well as students. We should communicate more with each other so as to understand other’s needs and concerns. We should also share our own thoughts with the whole school. Also, in order to ensure educational quality, peer observation is recommended in our department. Any constructive advice should be voiced out in an appropriate manner and it should be accepted by others. Last but not least, teachers should be fair to all students in class in order to live out our school motto, ‘be all things to all men’. Disregard of students’ diversity in ability, teacher should show their love, care, patience and concern to everyone in class equally.
2) to nurture students with all-round education e.g. other than teaching the principles of preparing accounting records, we also teach our students how to use their pocket money in a sensible way
3) to achieve outstanding results in IAL – AS, IAL - AL DSE and IGCSE
4) to initiate self-evaluation among panel members through discussion of teaching method used and exchange of teaching experiences
5) to exercise self-reflection after teaching and record in teacher’s log book i.e. writing down clearly the teaching activities or strategies used during lessons and reflection after the lessons. ‘Striving for accuracy' is the main habit of mind being applied in both teaching and learning of the subject Accounting
6) To achieve stronger academic results and ensure quality education of the subject within the school
We aim to increase the number of distinctions and credits secured by our students in the public exams. Students with relatively low academic ability and poor learning attitude must first be given all teaching and moral support and if it is to no avail, then these students should drop Accounting if they cannot cope with the subject.
