School theme 2024-2025: “Innovating Today Transforming Tomorrow”
Our department can help our students to understand the school theme better through our daily teaching and science-related/ Biology-related extra-curricular activities. |
-
The Biology Department will support the school's 170th Anniversary during the school Open Days. By showcasing outstanding student work, providing hands-on experiences, and conducting various demonstrations, we anticipate that visitors of different age groups and backgrounds will enjoy our activities and gain a deeper understanding of Biology and its applications in modern society.
-
Our department will continue to offer the IGCSE, International A-Level, and HKDSE curricula, providing students with diverse options for their future studies. We will integrate relevant content and skills into the IGCSE curriculum to ensure a smooth transition to IAL or HKDSE in higher forms. Our goal is to prepare students to achieve excellent results in these public examinations, which are important for their studies and careers in life science-related fields.
-
Through the study of Biology, our aim is for students to develop a comprehensive understanding of biological principles, cultivate respect for the living world, and promote responsible citizenship. Moreover, we hope to increase students' awareness of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle for both physical and mental well-being, particularly when studying health-related topics. Students will be encouraged to read more books and articles online, and to discuss and evaluate the environmental, ethical, social and economic implications of relevant local and global issues.
-
We encourage both teachers and students to utilize mobile technology for teaching and learning Biology. Online platforms will be employed to facilitate interaction between teachers and students, while students will be encouraged to utilize more educational apps and internet resources as preparation materials for their lessons. Additionally, we will continue to employ the ELMO platform for continuous assessment and to foster students' self-learning skills.
-
To support the integration of STEAM, we will incorporate scientific investigations and project-based learning into our classroom teaching to encourage students who are interested in working on scientific projects beyond regular lessons. We will actively motivate our students to participate in local, national, and international science project competitions, thereby enhancing their creativity and broadening their horizons through interactions within the scientific community. Furthermore, we will encourage students to apply their inventions in daily life and showcase them at school functions or other exhibitions.
-
To nurture our students' interest in biological and environmental activities, we will continue to provide support and guidance to activities organized by the Science Society, Conservancy Club and the Horticulture Club. Through these activities, we aim to arouse student’s interest in biological science, and to enhance students' awareness of environmental conservation.
