To commemorate the 170th Anniversary of St. Paul's Convent School, the Home Economics Department contributed to the celebrations in numerous ways. We provided snacks for Family Fun Day, trained students to develop menu designs for the 170th Homecoming Gala Dinner, and hosted cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs during the school's Open Day.
We were honoured to welcome three distinguished celebrity chefs as our guest demonstrators: Chef Eddy Leung, Chef Titan Tsang, and Chef Happy Chan.
Chef Eddy Leung (梁偉浩師傅), President of the Hong Kong Chefs Association and former chef at Gaddis, The Peninsula Hong Kong's renowned restaurant, now owns Chef Studio by Eddy. He demonstrated the preparation of Bouillabaisse, a traditional Provençal fish soup originating from the port city of Marseille. The aromatic fragrance of this classic dish filled the entire school, delighting all who attended. Our sincere gratitude to Chef Leung for this memorable experience!Chef Titan Tsang (曾智波師傅), Senior Executive Pastry Chef at The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong, showcased his expertise through a demonstration of his signature Pandan Chiffon Cake (斑蘭雪紡蛋糕), a beloved Singaporean delicacy. Chef Tsang and his team generously shared numerous chiffon cakes with the audience whilst revealing professional techniques for creating the perfect chiffon texture. Thank you, Chef Tsang, for your generosity and expertise!
Chef Happy Chan (陳東東師傅), Vice-Executive Chef at Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hong Kong, presented an engaging demonstration on preparing Retro Shrimp Toast (懷舊蝦多士), a classic Hong Kong delicacy. Chef Chan graciously invited audience members to participate in the cooking process, creating an interactive and enjoyable experience for all. Additionally, he generously sponsored all the delicious shrimp toasts for our event. Our heartfelt thanks to Chef Chan for his kindness and enthusiasm!
Organising these exceptional demonstrations required considerable effort and coordination. We extend our deepest appreciation to all our distinguished guests, parents, students, and friends for your continued support throughout these celebrations. For those interested, Ms. Rita Ho, Head of the Home Economics Department, has compiled an elegant recipe booklet featuring the dishes demonstrated during these cooking shows. Please contact Ms. Ho directly if you would like to receive a copy.
We encourage you to share the joy of good food with your loved ones. Happy cooking!
