Visit by Teachers from Three Catholic Secondary Schools in the Philippines |
On June 6, 2024, a group of teachers from three Catholic secondary schools in the Philippines embarked on an educational exchange visit to our school. The event commenced with Reverend Sister Margaret Wong, our school Principal, delivering an overview of the education system in Hong Kong. Subsequently, our hospitality team presented a captivating narrative of our school's rich history, diverse curricula, and outstanding student achievements. Our student also had the opportunity to share with the guests the diverse religious activities at SPCS and to introduce the various religious clubs available. Following the enriching presentations, we conducted a guided school tour, enabling our visitors to explore our campus, experience our modern learning facilities, and witness the exceptional learning environment we provide for our students. The day came to a fulfilling conclusion with a thoughtful and engaging discussion session, during which teachers from the Philippines and our school exchanged ideas on a range of educational topics. The afternoon proved to be a fruitful and rewarding experience for all involved.

US Consul General Visit |
We had a wonderful visit from US Consul General, Mr Gregory May on 8 November 2023. SPCS students introduced various prestigious activities and programs provided at our school, such as mock trial, MIT exchange program, and groundbreaking achievements by our students in the field of STEM (including aerospace engineering and robotics). We then conducted a productive discussion on pathways to studying in the US, followed by a delightful sharing from Mr. May on his background and career. The visit was concluded with an afternoon tea session, with an assortment of baked food carefully prepared by our students. During the afternoon tea session, we had the honour to have an engaging conversation with Mr May, sharing our school lives, interests, career aspirations, in addition to the Hong Kong education system. Mr May was absolutely fascinated by the fruitful lives of typical local students!

Visitors from Yin'ao International Arts Academy and Shenzhen Nanshan Foreign Language Senior High School |
On 20 June 2023, a delegation from Yin'ao International Arts Academy (Shenzhen) and Shenzhen Nanshan Foreign Language Senior High School visited our school. The delegation consisted of the School Secretary, School Manager, Principal, and Teachers. The purpose of their visit was to engage in a comprehensive discussion about the administration, learning, teaching assessment, and verification of BTEC courses.
During the meeting, apart from focusing on the details of the BTEC curriculum, we also delved into a wide range of other current educational issues. We explored topics such as innovative teaching methodologies, student engagement strategies, assessment practices, and the integration of technology in education. It was a dynamic exchange of ideas, allowing us to share our experiences and learn from each other's best practices. This collaborative approach provided a valuable opportunity for professional growth and development for both schools involved.
The visitors were highly impressed by the high-quality BTEC education that has been delivered at SPCS for the past eight years. They commended our dedicated faculty and staff for their expertise and commitment to providing students with a well-rounded and practical education. The delegation members were particularly pleased with the several videos on education pedagogies that our school had prepared. These videos showcased our innovative teaching methods, student-centered approaches, and effective use of technology in the classroom. It served as a powerful demonstration of our school's progressive educational practices.
Despite the relatively short duration of the meeting, lasting only two hours, it encapsulated the spirit of collaboration and sharing that characterizes SPCS. It highlighted our school's willingness to actively engage with other educational institutions and contribute to the broader educational community. By participating in such forums, we demonstrate our commitment to ongoing improvement and the pursuit of excellence in education. This visit not only strengthened the bond between our schools but also paved the way for potential future collaborations and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
Overall, the visit was a significant success, fostering productive dialogue and mutual learning. It reinforced SPCS's reputation as an institution dedicated to delivering high-quality education and its commitment to staying at the forefront of educational advancements.

On 23rd May 2018, we were honoured to have special guests from the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS), Mr. Claes Nobel (co-founder of NSHSS), Mr. Marcus Nobel, Mr. James Lewis (President of NSHSS), Mrs. Lee Lewis and Ms. Emma Farr Rawlings at SPCS during their short visit to Hong Kong. NSHSS provides opportunities to its members to access scholarships, events, connections, internships, and career opportunities. Our guests were shown around the school by our Principal, Reverend Sister Margaret Wong, our Careers Team teachers, other teachers and four Form 5 students. Mr. Claes Nobel was especially impressed by our school's emphasis on ethics and environmental sustainability amid technological advancements. Our guests had the opportunity to experience firsthand our innovative efforts, including our singing robot and the VR equipment in the Classroom of the Future. At the end, Mr. Claes Nobel gave a short speech and presented the NSHSS medallions to Reverend Sister Margaret, Ms. S. Keung and Ms. S. Kim for our school's commitment to set up the NSHSS Hong Kong Chapter. We look forward to welcoming our guests at our school again after the Hong Kong Chapter has been set up at SPCS.

School Visit from Pearson |
We were happy to receive Mr. Chris Boor, the Commissioning Editor, Pearson, UK, and his colleagues from the Hong Kong Office, Ms. Ivy Ching, Ms. Connie Lee, and Ms. Wing Li, at our school on 11 October, 2017. The purpose of their visit was to meet Principal Sister Margaret and some SPCS teachers, and to listen to teacher feedback about Pearson products. The visitors then went on to observe some lessons, to discuss the implications of the new and reformed IGCSE curriculum structure, and to review future resource development. In addition, issues surrounding qualifications and professional development were also discussed. The meeting both informative and fruitful for all concerned.

Mr. Leslie Jonson visited our school from 3 ¡V 5 July 2017 to sample our success in the development of IT Education in SPCS. Mr. Jonson observed lessons, joined our EITP recruitment day and toured around the school. He showed great appreciation on our school¡¦s IT facilities and equipment as well as the various curriculums that prepare the students to further their studies through different pathways.

A School Visit by the Principal and Staff from Loreto Normanhurst School, Sydney, Australia |
We were delighted to have Ms. Barbara Watkins, the Principal, Mrs. Kate Kovacs, the Director of Boarding and Mrs. Alicia Maunsell, the Director of Development, from Loreto Normanhurst visiting our school on 16 March, 2017. A large range of ideas were shared on issues relating to the academic curriculum, co-curricular activities, and mobile learning technology. Our guests enjoyed the presentation of the STEM project ¡§Photo Dynamic Effect of LED (Red light 640 nm and blue light 470 nm) on animal fat¡¨ by Chloe Chong, Jolie Cheung and Emma Wu of F.1T as well as the exciting demonstration of VR technology in the Classroom of the Future. The visit proved to be highly enjoyable for all parties and we hope to have more such exchanges with Loreto Normanhurst in the future.

Visit by Mr. Nicholas W Yang, the Secretary for Innovation and Technology |
We were honoured to have Mr. Nicholas W Yang, the Secretary for Innovation and Technology, visiting our school on 13th January, 2017. The main purpose of his visit was to gain a deeper understanding of the implementation of STEM initiatives in SPCS. The visit began with Sister Margaret Wong, our principal, giving a brief account of the school's STEM initiatives to nurture student creativity, and the plan to use the new innovation-centric block, Smart Oasis, to teach with both augmented and virtual reality technology. Paulinian students then presented their work on robotics programming, the EITP programme, the Aeroplane building project and various science projects. In his chats with the students, Mr Yang said that STEM fields were at the core of everything in an Internet-driven economy. He encouraged the students to use the wonderful opportunity presented to them by the school to further acquaint themselves with information technology programmes, equipping themselves with superior logical-thinking and creative problem-solving skills whilst they were still young.

Cultural Exchange Show with the Mayflower Secondary School, Singapore |
On 30th November, 2016, the school was pleased to host a Cultural Exchange Show with the Mayflower Secondary School, Singapore. The Mayflower Secondary School Choir, led by their conductor, Mrs. Tay Sze Chen, performed seven songs for our F.1 & 2 students and teachers. The songs showcased the distinctive multi-cultural character of Singapore and the performance were well received by the audience. To respond on behalf of SPCS, and to showcase the beauty of traditional Chinese culture, Maisie Luk (4S) then gave a guzhen solo, and the SPCS Junior Choir rounded off the show by performing two of their favourite songs. The audience was impressed by the talent and dedication on display.
This special concert celebrated both Chinese and Singaporean cultures and promoted Chinese-Singaporean cultural interaction. It helped to strengthen friendships and encouraged respect for and appreciation of different cultures in the world.

Visit by the Consul General of the United States to SPCS |
On 3rd October, 2016, the school was delighted to welcome Mr. Kurt Tong, the new Consul General of the United States for Hong Kong and Macau, Ms. Nina Lewis, the Cultural Unit Chief and Ms. Adeline Fung, the Cultural Program Manager for a full afternoon¡¦s visit.
Mr.Tong only began his duties in Hong Kong in August, 2016. Prior to this he held various important offices of state including being the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs at the Department of State, the Deputy Chief of Mission and Charge d'Affaires in Tokyo and the U.S. Ambassador for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.
In the Classroom of the Future, Paulinians put on most engaging presentations for Mr. Tong, all of which illustrated the challenges faced and successes gained in the development of STEM education in SPCS. These presentations were entitled: ¡¥Aeroplane Building Sharing¡¦ by Maisie Ng and Joyce Chan (2016 graduates), ¡¥Artificial Skin¡¦ by Jenna Wong (4S) and Clarrisa Yung (4P), ¡¥EITP Sharing¡¦ by Madeline Leung (3P), ¡¥Stanford Tour Sharing¡¦ by Doris Wong (4S) and Jocelin Kee (4P), and ¡¥Lab Made Paint Reinvented¡¦ by Polly Tsang (6A). The presentations were then followed by a lively debate about girls¡¦ schools, the need for aspirations and the desirability of pursuing tertiary studies in the United States.
After a tour of the school campus the visit ended with tea being served in the English Room. Everyone appreciated Mr. Tong giving up his valuable time to visit SPCS and fervently hoped that he would come to visit again in the near future.

Visit of Mrs. Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai |
On the 14th September, 2016, the school was honoured to receive a visit from Mrs. Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai. Mrs. Fan spoke to a range of students about the Hong Kong academic curriculum, with a particular focus on Chinese History and History education, and in return Paulinians described some of their cherished memories of the previous year¡¦s study tours. Mrs. Rita Fan generously donated a collection of Chinese History books to the school library. The visit ended with tea being served in the Synergy Corner.

On 17th October 2014, Ms Li Sui-wah, the Principal of Queen¡¦s College, visited our school along with her teachers, to share ideas on IT issues related to schools, such as the development of mobile learning technolgy, e-learning platforms and IT management system. The meeting proved to be enjoyable for both parties and ended with a school tour.

Celebration of United Nations International Day of Peace & Peace Week |
The 21st of September 2014 was a day generally observed by the people around the world to be the United Nations International Day of Peace. UNESCO Hong Kong and Rotary International District 3450 celebrated the occasion and kicked start the 2014-15 Fostering Global Citizenship Youth Program. Our school joined the program in order to educate and support our students to become better global citizens.
The first program of the year known as ¡¥Peace Week¡¦ was embarked in school on 22-26 September 2014. Peace Ambassadors started promoting the message of peace to all students during the morning assembly, so that an atmosphere of inner peace with genuine wish for world peace were created in the school environment.

On 15 January 2013, Professor Mark Bray, the UNESCO Chair in Comparative Education, led 26 educators representing UNESCO-International Institute for Educational Planning, Institute of Educational Managers Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), National Institute of Education Management (Vietnam), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), National Institute for Development of Teachers (Thailand), State University of Jakarta (Indonesia), Ministry of Education and Culture (Indonesia) and University of Hong Kong (Faculty of Education) to our school as part of their Distance Training Programme on Education Sector Planning in Asia. In addition, we were also very grateful to have representatives from St. Paul's International College, Mr. Alan Choi (Director of International Relations) and Miss Anne-Maree Scott (Head of School for teaching and Learning and the Director of ELICOS) to join the group in the school visit. Students showed their hospitality in the Classroom of the Future by presenting our school background, information, students¡¦ achievements, e-learning and e-books resources to the guests. We sang the Reform Song together which was followed by a school tour. The day ended with tea refreshment in the Synergy Corner. It was a memorable afternoon. |

On 26 October 2012, Ziggy Liaquat, the Managing Director of Pearson Qualification Services (Pearson UK), visited our school with his team which included Simon Breakspear (Senior Associate, Office of the Chief Education Advisor), Kath Thomas (Head of Research, Design & Innovation), Derek Richardson (Head of Assessment), Dr Peter Canning (Senior Manager Science), Phil Myers (Senior Manager English) and Sharon Wood (Senior Manager Mathematics). They had a group meeting with our Principal, Rev. Sr. Margaret Wong, and the teaching staff which was followed by Small Group Discussion meetings with different panels such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English Language. Both had a valuable time in exchanging visions and implementations of HK and UK school curriculum. |

School Visits in United Kingdom
|
From July 3rd to July 12th the Principal Sister Margaret Wong, the Head of English Mr. Maxwell and a group of six St. Paul¡¦s Convent School teachers accompanied 35 of the students who were attending the STEM summer school at Imperial College London. While the students attended classes, Sister Margaret and several teachers went to visit a variety of British schools in and around the London area. The aims of these visits were to forge new links with schools in England, observe and bring back good practice and to reconnect with the schools SPCS currently works with.
The trip was a great success and the following schools welcomed SPCS with wonderful hospitality: Gumley House Convent School, St John's Catholic Comprehensive School, Greensward Academy, Gateway Academy, St Clere's Academy, St. Clere¡¦s Primary School, Walthamstow Academy and Lampton School.
The visits included tours of the schools, lesson observations, professional dialogue with teachers and even the opportunity to hold the London 2012 Olympic torch as it passed through one of the schools.
Sister Margaret also participated in a telepresence international student forum debate organized by Education Fast Forward. This involved Jeremy Gilley the founder of Peace One Day and students from 14 countries discussing the topic of peace.
In the future SPCS aims to establish more video conferencing links, carry out collaborative projects, teacher and student exchanges with these schools and to support the work of Peace One day.

Hong Kong Biennial Gifted Education Conference 2012
|
On 17 May 2012, Sister Margaret Wong together with Mr. Law and Mr. Maxwell were invited to be speakers at the Gifted Education Conference 2012 co-organized by EDB and the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education. They shared with the audience how SPCS promotes gifted education through ¡§ Exposure to Diversified Activities that Release Students¡¦ Potential- Go For IT¡¨ . The sharing was in the form of an interactive role play and the presentation was insightful. Three of our F7 girls also presented their ebook project using iBooks Author and the audience was impressed by their ideas and creativity. |

Curriculum visit by EDB Mathematics section
|
On 22 Nov 2011, two representatives from EDB: Ms Tang Mei-yue and Mr Lee Chun-yue visited us to discuss the implementation of HKDSE Mathematics. They talked with our teacher and students. We invited them to our lessons and let them experience our learning atmosphere. Valuable ideas and insights were shared on issues about teaching and learning in HKDSE Mathematics and the extension modules. We appreciate chances like this so that the authority and the school (both teachers and students) can exchange ideas.

On 14 November 2011, Batmunkh Dashdeleg, principal of Orchlon School (in Ulaan Baatur, Mongolia) visited our school with her team including Jargalmaa Tsendjav (Vice Principal), Orgil . O (Business Director), Bolormaa.Ts (Head of Secondary), Surmaajav Badrakh (Head of Primaries), Banzragchmaa Dashdeleg (Head of Kindergarten), Narantuya Norovsambuu (International Program Director), Doljinsuren.Ts (Chef accountant), Soyolzul Sharkhuu (Social worker), Enkhjargal Batmunkh (Manager) and Mr. Ganbat Tamir (Architecture). Our principal shared with them our school history, development and reform experience. They were impressed with our school achievements and our e-learning platforms. The visit was ended with the school tour of the secondary, primary and nursery campus. |

We are delighted to have educators from the Chancheng District in Foshan visited our school on 27 May 2011. Our principal and teachers shared with them our experience on launching mobile learning projects in our school. They were all impressed by our e-learning platforms and would like to share what they learnt in SPCS with educators in Fohan when they were back. |

The aim of the visit is to gain a better understanding about the education system in Hong Kong. Workshop on Independent Enquiry Study (IES) of Liberal Studies by Dr John Tan
|
On 28 October 2010, Dr John Tan, Principal of Wah Yan College Kowloon, conducted a workshop on Independent Enquiry Study (IES) of Liberal Studies in G5 of our school. Teachers from our Liberal Studies Team, staff of the senior management and teachers from St Paul¡¦s Secondary School participated in the workshop to have better understanding of the assessment criteria, on how to offer feedback and mark students¡¦ samples. Dr Tan conducted a comprehensive and deep analysis of a few samples which helped the audience better understanding on how to support students and to stretch their potentials on their IES projects. All participants enjoyed the workshop and had a fruitful morning. |

A Seminar on "Enhancing the Learning and Teaching of New Senior Secondary Curriculum with Mobile Learning"

A seminar was held on Wednesday, 27th October, 2010 to share our approach in ¡§Enhancing the Learning and Teaching of New Senior Secondary Curriculum with ¡¥Mobile Learning¡¦¡¨ delivered by PDS teachers, namely, Mrs. Clare Cheung, Ms. Luisa Yim (English Language) and and Ms.Regina Luk (Liberal Studies). The classroom practices of integrating English and Liberal Studies curriculum on the enquiry topic of ¡¥Nature and Environment¡¦, using information technology tools for mobile learning, were explored. Around 30 participants, including the principals and teachers of three partner schools, CCC Fong Yun Wah Secondary School, Islamic Kasim Tuet Memorial College, and Law Ting Pong Secondary School joined the discussion. All participants of partner schools and representatives of Education Bureau, namely, Mr. Albert Liu, Mr. Eric Chan and Mrs. Ivy Lui showed their appreciation of the sharing and insights of PDS teachers of the seminar. |

On 27 September 2010, we were delighted to have a group of 69 Principals and teachers from 23 schools of the HKSSEN to participate in a seminar on ¡§ From Modem to Wi-Fi- Evolution rather than Revolution¡¨ and ¡§Learning beyond classroom with a focus on e-learning and mobile learning¡¨ conducted by our IT Core Team. The school visit ended with a school tour and many of the participants were greatly impressed by our Classroom of the Future, Classroom of the Past, Synergy Corner, Quality Kitchen, Art Room and Aeroplane Building Room. 3 June, 2010, we were delighted to have a group of 63 teachers
from Tseung Kwan O Government School, led by their school head,

the 16 Habits of Mind conducted by our Staff Development Team.
They also attended a briefing session on how to infuse mobile
learning in Liberal Studies, Literature in English and NSS English
using iPod devices. The school visit ended with a school tour

UK organized by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.
The aim of this tour was to visit newly built, outstanding schools
in the UK and to learn about innovation in England and new technologies.
Each of the schools visited is a centre of excellence and each
showcased this to the visitors from Hong Kong. The tour was
very enlightening and has allowed SPCS to further enrich its

17th April 2010, our teacher, Mr. Roy Li, represents the school

of Project Outcomes by the Professional Development Schools
Scheme

A
showcase on the 'Sharing of Project Outcomes by the Professional
Development Schools Scheme' was held in our school on 31st March,
2010. The programme began in the school hall with an inspiring
talk delivered by Professor CHENG Kai-ming. Eighteen Professional
Development Schools, including St. Paul's Convent School, have
sent teacher representatives to showcase their project outcomes
in individual classrooms. We were delighted to have our presentation
in the "Classroom of the Future" where we had shared
our experience on the use of Ipods in implementing NSS Liberal
Studies curriculum. Our three partner schools, SKH Lam Woo Memorial
Secondary School, HKU Graduate Association College and CSW Catholic
Secondary School also presented different topics - 'iPods in
Learning of Liberal Studies', 'How Mobile Learning may be facilitated
and Enhanced through the Overall Curriculum Planning' and 'Using
Mobile Learning in Form 3 English Classroom' respectively. Our
school was filled with guests, principals and teachers and all
of us found the afternoon very fruitful and meaningful.

were delighted to have a group of teachers and staff from St.

visited our school on Tuesday 23rd March, 2010. We welcomed
them by presenting our School Reform Song which depicted our

experience of implementing IGCSE and NSS curriculum and followed

and volunteers visited Bei Chuan Zhong Xue from 15 July to 19
July 2009 to celebrate the grand opening of the centre. The
team supported the school to set up a wireless Multi-Media Learning
Centre for learning English through two excellent sponsored
e-learning platforms namely English4us and English Builder.

of 1959 50th Year Reunion in St Paul¡¦s Covent School |
A
group of 7 alumni re-visited their mother school on 17 April
2009 as part of their 50th Year Reunion schedule. The hospitality
team showed a warm welcome to our dear alumni and gave them
a brief introduction of the school¡¦s recent development and
achievements in our Classroom of the Future. Followed by the
school introduction, our school Campus TV team had a live interview
with the alumni. We then sang the education reform song together
so as to let them understand how our school met the challenges
of the 21st Century. We also sang the school hymn to reminisce
about the good days of old. Afterwards, we had a school tour.
Sister Maraget and our F6 students took them around the Classroom
of the Past, Aeroplane Building Studio, Dance Studio, Chinese
Culture Room, Quality Kitchen and Model Home. In the Synergy
Corner, our Head and Vice-head Prefects shared their Sichuan
experiences with the alumni. The reunion ended with a nice lunch
of Chinese dim sum.

the 3rd December, M. Benoit Gaudin, the newly appointed attache
for linguistic and academic affairs at the French Consulate
General in Hong Kong, came to our school to pay a friendly visit.
Sr. Margaret extended her warmest welcome by showing him around
our school compound. He was very interested in the activities
we held to promote the learning of the French language. He was
most impressed by our school¡¦s high technology and excellent
facilities. He expressed his concern for the development of
the teaching of the French language and promised to give his
full support should there be any need. Before he left, he presented
some books with CD included as a gift to our school, and promised
to be the Guest of Honour for our coming Sports Day. So it will
not be long before we get to see M. Gaudin again!

The
officials of the Tian Jin Heping District Education Bureau (¤Ñ¬z¥«©M¥°Ï±Ð¨|§½)
and 8 elite swimmers from the Nankai High School («n¶}¤¤¾Ç)
visited our school on Wednesday, 14th May 2008. As the Beijing
Olympic Games is drawing near, the Tian Jin Heping District
Education Bureau invited our school¡¦s swimming team to join
a joint swimming training programme to promote sportsmanship
and Olympic spirit among swimmers, coaches and teachers in Hong
Kong. Our swimmers really treasure this meaningful and unforgettable
time! |

We
had the great pleasure to participate in the Quality Education
Fund Expo 2008 from 9 May 2008 to 11 May 2008 when we exhibited
the achievements of our QEF-funded projects with educators,
teachers, parents and other participants. Our merit-award winning
projects include:

We
had the great pleasure to welcome Mr. Raymond Wong, JP, Permanent
Secretary for Education to visit our school on 10 April 2008.
He enjoyed very much the dance performances in the school Hall.
He then visited the Classroom of the Future, Synergy Corner,
Classroom of the Past, Media Laboratory, Language Laboratory,
Computer¡VAssisted Learning Laboratory, Dance Studio and Virtual
Art Room and observed some lessons. He was greatly impressed
by our state-of-art facilities and the students¡¦ presentations.
He praised our school as "A Most Impressive School".

visited our school on 2 April 2008 to share with our Form 4
and Form 6 students her Cambridge experience and her view of
women's role in modern day society. Her talk was highly inspiring
and enlightening.

for Administration |
We
had the great pleasure to welcome the Honourable Henry Tang
Ying-yen, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration to visit
our school on 31st January 2008 in order to better understand
the outstanding achievement of our school in the area of Performing
Arts. He visited the Classroom of the Future, Media Laboratory,
Dance Studio and Visual Art Room. He was greatly impressed by
the outstanding academic performance of our students and their
work in robotics, animation production, Chinese Dance and the
school-based Visual Art curriculum. His comments were that our
school had done a lot of ¡§ Excellent Work¡¨. The visit ended
with a press conference on West Kowloon Cultural District Development
Project in our Visual Art Room.
