Annual Speech Day 2010 on 11th November, 2010
In the evening of 11th November 2010, our Form Five and Seven graduates celebrated their graduation on the Annual Speech Day. Guests, parents of graduates and teachers filled the garden and covered playground as the tea party began at 5:30 p.m. The programme started with the National Anthem. Rev. Mother Jacqueline Ho led the opening prayer and followed by the welcoming address delivered by Rev. Sister Margaret Wong. After that, our honourable guest, Professor Joseph J. Y. Sung, S.B.S., Vice-Chancellor & President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, presented the certificates, scholarships and prizes to our Paulinians and gave us an inspiring speech. Professor Sung stressed the excellence of the education that Paulinians had received at SPCS, an education that was the envy of many of their peers. He told them to learn ‘to think out of the box’, challenging the things they were taught and encouraged them to think critically and be innovative, always asking questions to clarify their misconceptions and find out the truth behind the things they had been taught. He said that it was imperative that they read extensively. Last but not least, Professor encouraged students to learn from their failures and not just their successes. The programme ended with spectacular performances by Chinese Dance Team, Junior Choir and Chinese Orchestra accompanied by vocalists, followed by our School Hymn.
